As of late 2025, Brazil and China signed a mutual 30-day visa-waiver framework expected to enter force in 2026 — but always confirm on the Brazilian Embassy in Beijing website before booking flights.

    • Consulates: Beijing (北京), Shanghai (上海), Guangzhou (广州), Hong Kong (香港).
    • Documents: passport (6+ months), photo (35×45mm), flight itinerary, hotel booking, bank statements (RMB 30,000+ recommended), employment letter.

    Flights from China to Rio (航班)

    No direct China–Rio flights exist. The three best routings in 2026:

    • Middle East hub: PEK/PVG/CAN → Dubai (Emirates) / Doha (Qatar) / Istanbul (Turkish) → São Paulo GRU → Rio SDU or GIG. Total 28h. Best comfort and reliability.
    • Africa hub: PVG/PEK → Addis Ababa (Ethiopian) → GRU → Rio. Total 30h. Often cheapest business class.
    • Europe hub: PEK/PVG → Paris/Frankfurt/Madrid → GRU → Rio (Air France, Lufthansa, Iberia, LATAM). Total 26–30h. Best for stopover in Europe.

    Book GRU→Rio on the same PNR to avoid re-checking bags. Domestic Brazilian carriers: LATAM, GOL and Azul. Rio has two airports — GIG (Galeão) for international, SDU (Santos Dumont) for domestic (5 min from Centro).

    Payments: Alipay, WeChat Pay & UnionPay in Rio

    Brazil's payment system runs on Pix + Visa/Mastercard. Chinese payment platforms have limited acceptance:

    • Alipay (支付宝): Accepted at Copacabana Palace, Fasano, JW Marriott, some Rio Sul luxury shops via the Cielo terminal integration. Not accepted at street kiosks, most restaurants, Uber.
