Heavy-rain alerts require more than an umbrella. Flooded streets and landslide risk can affect transport and forest routes. Follow official advice and postpone trails when conditions warrant. On ordinary showers, a nearby museum, market or long lunch can preserve the day.

Nossa Senhora Aparecida Day on 12 October is a national holiday and also associated with Children's Day. When it forms a long weekend, domestic family demand can rise around beaches and child-friendly attractions. Check your year's calendar before calling a week low season.

Do not rely on fixed price bands from an old article. Compare total room cost, refund rules and location. A property near the metro or your preferred beach can save more in time and transport than a cheaper room on the wrong side of the city.
