Tandem flights launch from the wooden ramp on Pedra Bonita (520 m) and glide 10–15 minutes over Atlantic rainforest before landing on the sand at Praia do Pepino (the western half of São Conrado beach). Pedra da Gávea — hike the rock above your hotel
The dramatic 842 m granite mountain framing every São Conrado photo is also Rio's hardest and most rewarding hike. The trail climbs 5–7 km through Tijuca rainforest and finishes with the Carrasqueira, a near-vertical rope scramble that turns a great walk into a real mountain. First-timers should absolutely go with a licensed local guide.

Pedra Bonita — the easy view above the ramp

The beach
Praia de São Conrado is ~1.5 km long, split by a canal. The western half (Pepino, near Pedra da Gávea) is the hang-glider landing zone and where locals swim — cleaner, safer, more scenic. What changes the story is the direct border with Rocinha: do not walk uphill from São Conrado, do not follow Google Maps shortcuts through Estrada da Gávea after dark, and avoid unmarked side streets on the Rocinha-facing side of the neighborhood.
